Alan is a natural born pianist and composer. He started playing and writing out of the clear blue at 4 yrs.old. Through early life he concentrated on classical performance under the guidance of Slava Rostropovich, He later went on to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music and Harvard, where he was bitten by the musical theater bug and hasn't looked back. An alum of the Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theater Workshop at BMI, he met collaborator Jenne Wason and wrote the following shows under moderator Maury Yeston: THE MARRYING TYPES (Players Theatre), BINGO CITY (NYMF in concert, The Tank), and THE WHITE ROSE ( NYMF in concert, Wright State workshop, and The Public Theater reading). He wrote music for the play IN DARFUR by Winter Miller ( Ignite Festival, Soho Playhouse) and the Mac nominated review WHAT'S THE POINT?! with Hector Coris which played off B'way and also in Cincinnati and Montreal. He met collaborator Owen Robertson at a 48 hr musical workshop at Dixon Place to write DEAD MAN BLOGGING and later on to write SYBIL (workshopped at Provincetown Theater) and a musical adaptation of PECKER by John Waters.

Jenne graduated from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama/Dramatic Writing and is an alumnus of the BMI-Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop.

With Composer Alan Cancelino, Jenne has developed several works including THE WHITE ROSE (concert - New York Musical Theatre Festival; readings - York Theatre Company, Public Theater; workshop - Wright State University) and BINGO CITY (concert - NYMF). The pair is currently working on WRITE NOW, a dark comedy musical, which had a workshop reading as part of Provincetown‘s O’Neill Festival of New Works. Their songs have been performed at various cabaret venues in the US and Canada.

Jenne is the creator of the musical WINESDAY, which had a hit run off Broadway in 2024 and has played sold-out and extended runs in various venues in Canada (composer: Joseph Benoit). The show's success has extended internationally with a French-language adaptation titled VINDREDI and the sequel NEXT WINESDAY is well underway. Wason and Benoit have also collaborated on the family holiday musical FLAKIE and have been honored with the Forte song commission.
